(Content updated January 31, 2023) What distinguishes the Thailand Elite Visa from so many other Residency-by-Investment programs is that the Thailand Elite program visa is the world’s first country level membership exclusively for expats seeking to live in Thailand.
Focusing first on the practicalities. The Thailand Elite Visa (also referred to as the Thailand Privilege Card or Thailand Elite Program Membership) is a long term, 5 to 20 years visa. Its duration is 5 to 20 years and its classification is as a Tourist Visa (Privilege Entry Visa or “PE”).
There are different packages with different levels. The least expensive Thai Elite Visa is the Elite Easy Access membership for individuals at THB 600,000 (approximately USD 18,000, at this time). The most expensive is Thai Elite Ultimate Privilege program at THB 2,140,000 (about USD 65,000) in which you’ll receive 20 years residency status. First of all, it is a multi-entry visa – you can enter and leave the country as often as you like.
Long term Thai visas usually require proof of medical insurance. The government waives the need for medical insurance with the Thailand Elite Visa.
Second of all, you get to avoid the time-consuming headaches when it comes to immigration matters. Thai Elite will assist you to complete the 90-days reporting visits required for all foreigners living in Thailand. Thailand Elite will be assisting you every step of the way.
Third of all, you’ll be welcome back to Thailand as a VIP. There’s the Thailand Elite program assistant to meet you at the plane gate, golf cart service at the airport if your gate is considerably far, fast track immigration lane for you and your family, VIP limousine pick ups and drop offs to your residence, and many more. Our only question is, What’s not to like?
Next are the additional privileges. As a Thailand Elite program member, you’ll receive government concierge assistance. (Please note that not all of these are available with every package.) These include a 24-hour a day, 7 days a week call centre for members, with speakers in English, and in office hours also Korean, Mandarin and Japanese, to assist with any inquiries and problems.
As well there is a government concierge who can help with paperwork from immigration, applying for a Thai driver’s license, opening a Thai bank account and similar issues. The Thailand Elite concierge could also assist in liaison with other government sectors upon your inquiry- whether for business or leisure. A private assistant will also greet you at the airport for all arriving and departing flights to help with any necessary arrangements.
On any trips overseas you will get access to the fast track into or out of Thai passport control and immigration. In addition, a complimentary chauffeured car to and from the airport and use of the Thai Elite Lounges on both arrival and departure.
It is one of the easiest programs also for your dependent family members. Most of the different packages can include them, with or without an additional fee, depending on the package. These family packages such as Thailand Elite Family Premium, Thailand Elite Family Extension, Thailand Elite Family Alternative, Thailand Elite Superiority Extension, and Thailand Elite Privilege Access are eligible to include family members such as legally married/civil union spouses, children (no age limitation) and grand-parents.
A majority of the programs have no age restrictions and the only nationality restrictions are to certain sub-Saharan, Middle Eastern and other states, like North Korea, facing international restrictions. People from Europe, North America, South America, the Caribbean, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, China and India are all eligible.
Perhaps most intriguing of all is an array of discounts. These include savings at spas, golf courses, and on other recreational activities; on short-haul and long-haul travel; free annual health checks; discounts on restaurants, gyms, schools, resorts, hotels, shopping malls and duty free.
Another benefit is a tax exemption on income earned outside Thailand and the right to buy property, shares or investments in Thailand. There are also various events and activities with Thailand Elite Program Membership, including both social and business mixers.
Processing time is excellent, as from first submitting a completed application with all the necessary documents, it is usually only 45 days. The required documents for submitting an application are minimal, normally consisting of the application form, a copy of your passport and a photo. For dependents you need to show a proof of relationship, such as a birth certificate or a marriage license. Thaielite-express can guide and assist you through the application upon your request.
